Job Summary
Technical Writers at 3M HIS are responsible for
-Designing and writing all software documentation provided to customers, including task-based user manuals; technical reference materials in a variety of formats; release notices and update instructions; online help systems; online instructional demos and knowledge center articles.
-Using the following tools for writing and publishing documents: Author-it, Captivate, Adobe Acrobat, RightNow, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
-Writing documents that reflect a clear understanding of products.
-Addressing the information needs of the applicable audience, being clear and accurate.
-Conforming to department standards of formatting, information design and usability.
-Creatively gathering and critically analyzing source information
-Optimizing the value of department processes and tools
-Developing multi-document information delivery plans
-Using cross-product knowledge and experience to improve information delivery.
-Serving on the cross-functional teams responsible for product development
-Attending all team meetings and maintaining open communication between the team and the Documentation department.
-Editing work for other writers.
-Fostering a respectful, cooperative work environment.
-Contributing significantly to the prevention and resolution of conflicts.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Basic Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree
• 3 years experience with technical writing

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Journalism, Education, and / or related field.

The following additional skills and experience would be helpful but are not required:
* project management
* web design
* instructional design
* experience in the healthcare industry
