Location: SGP-Singapore The Consumer & Office Business is one of 6 big business units within 3M with operations spanning all the 13 subsidiaries in Asia-Pacific (APAC) and is responsible for managing category defining brands brands like Post-it(R), Scotch(R), Scotch-Brite(TM), Nexcare(TM), Futuro(TM), Command(TM), Filtrete(TM) etc. The APAC Marketing Center of Excellence (M-COE) supports the C&O business with a charter to help subsidiaries build World Class Brands, strengthen Consumer Marketing Capabilities to World Class Levels and enable delivery of aggressive business and brand goals. This is consistent with the stated aspiration for 3M Marketing globally …”To be as well known for our Marketing, as we are known for Innovation.” The role of Head of Consumer Insight is a change leadership position being created within the M-COE to help build a world class foundation of Consumer Insight that helps build C&O business and brands in APAC. The role reports to the Head of the APAC M-COE and has the following responsibilities. · Define the charter, role, vision to set up the Consumer Insights function for APAC C&O. Develop & execute an action plan to deliver on the charter. · Define and prioritize Market Research needs on M-COE initiatives, including on New Product Innovation, Digital marketing, Brand Health Monitoring, Consumer foundational studies, Retail Audit, etc. Lead research design, manage research projects and lead communication with business partners to deliver desired outcomes. · Coordinate & Align the strategic research efforts across the C&O business in 13 subsidiaries we operate in. Strengthen the quality of research executed in the subsidiaries to world class levels · Champion ‘The Voice of the Consumer’ across the C&O business and inspire and enable a culture of consumer insight led decision making. · Define and nurture strategic partnerships with research agencies and internal resources – global consumer insights resources, corporate marketing, digital marketing. · Pioneer ‘value adding’ cutting edge research leveraging new technologies, digital and social media and help 3M COE be always future-ready. · Define and execute Marketing Metrics & Dashboards. Help increase Marketing ROI for the business. Build up analytics capability within C&O linking insights to business. · Manage the Consumer Insights Department, including budgeting – tracking and supporting M-APAC C&O operational and strategic planning. · Train, coach and build organizational capability on Market Research, Consumer Insight and Analytics. Lead / support coaching and training on Marketing Planning process. Given the strategic importance of this role and the breadth of exposure it gives, if successful, the candidate would be well set up for various different career paths/ opportunities depending on the candidates skills/ strengths and interests. There would be growth opportunities within Consumer Insights function in the C&O business, other 3M businesses, in select countries or within the Insights group of Corporate Marketing Excellence. Career broadening opportunities within Marketing would be available to successful candidates with prior business / marketing experience. A candidate with the appropriate broader marketing skill set and leadership ability could potentially grow into the role of the Head of the M-COE department or similar leadership roles. Basic Qualifications: · Around 10 years of experience in Market Research / Marketing with 3-5 years in a consumer insight / Market research leadership role. · High ethical standards. · Demonstrated leadership abilities and influencing skills. · Excellent blend of strengths in analytical thinking and intuition – not just great at problem solving, but able to connect the dots and synthesize the big picture. · Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills. · Deep experience with market research and analytics methodologies · Digitally savvy. Leverages digital and social media, new technologies well. · Has high initiative & follow through – A self starter, able to build systems and processes. · Has experience developing and running training and development programs in expertise areas. Preferred Qualifications: · Around 12-15 years of experience spanning Market Research and Marketing with at least 5 years in a consumer insight / Market research leadership role. · Proven change management / leadership experience in a large organization. · A Masters degree (or its equivalent) in Business or relevant disciplines from a top notch graduate school. · Superior quantitative and analytical skills, including experience in business modeling and analysis, marketing modeling / analysis. · Thrives in ambiguity and across a diversity of experiences. · Deep marketing / research training, coaching and capability building experience.
