3M is seeking a SeniorProcess Development Engineerfor the 3M Purification Inc. Division.

Job Summary:

3M is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer for the 3M Purification Division.

Roles and Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to the following:

*
Develop new processes in support of new product development and new technology platforms. Ensure proper design, build, and qualification of plant and equipment.
*
Develop new processes to enable new filter media technology to be utilized across multiple new product programs. Particular emphasis is placed on Applied Research support, while successfully demonstrating proof of principle and process feasibility.
*
Responsibility for the conceptualization, development, design, installation, and qualification of manufacturing processes to support new product platforms.
*
Responsibility for the development, and scale-up through manufacturing new processes in support new product platforms and technologies.
*
Optimize processes to meet product/process specifications and product cost targets.
*
Uses appropriate engineering methods as well as theoretical and empirical techniques in the design of new processes, such as SPC and DOE.
*
Lead multi-disciplinary teams through the process development process.
*
Work in a team environment to develop new processes for various filtration and separation products, while managing and leading multiple projects at the same time.
*
Responsibility for project planning and execution, as well as providing project status reports to senior management.
*
Works directly with product engineering, division engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance and equipment vendors to develop processes, while managing co-development projects with customers when required.
*
Provide direction to the efforts of process technicians in support of assigned projects.
*
Makes recommendations based upon sound economic analysis in the development of new processes.
*
Determine requirements and prepares capital requests (AFE's) as required for new process development and expansion projects.
*
Other duties as assigned.
Relocation: Relocation is authorized within country for this opportunity per 3M policies.

Location and Travel: The position ofSenior Process Development Engineerwill be located in Meriden, CT and may include up to 25% travel .
Basic Qualifications:
*
Bachelors degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university.
*
Minimum of 3 years process engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

*
Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
*
Experience in managing projects involving large capital expenditures.
*
Experience in the filtrations and separations industry.
*
Experience with one or more of the following: thermal processing, fine particle processing, absorption, activated carbon technology, water filtration and separations, surface modification of materials.
*
Process scale-up project experience.
*
Strong organizational skills and experience in project management.
*
Independent, high energy, positive approach.
*
Excellent communication and computer skills.
