Job Summary:
Manufacturing Engineering position supporting the Non-Woven Abrasive Web Making operation in the Prairie du Chien, WI plant.
Responsibilities include:

*
Provide product engineering support for non-woven abrasive web manufacturing
*
Develop quality improvement ideas and lead quality improvement projects
*
Monitor and improve statistical process control (SPC)
*
Scale up new products and work on cross-functional teams with lab and marketing resources
*
Conduct experiments to make improvements to existing webs
*
Monitor unit cost of webs utilizing Variance Analyzer and manage continuous cost reduction efforts
*
Respond to customer complaints, including customer visits, as necessary
*
Maintain product specifications
*
Learn and understand the polymer chemistry affecting the products and processes
*
Drive Cost, Quality, yield and productivity improvements through leadership of Lean/Six Sigma projects.
*
Improve safety of the manufacturing operation through leadership of Safety
*
Improvement Projects and Process Safety Management.
*
Provide technical leadership and training, as needed for hourly production employees
*
Manage Raw Materials by effectively working with Raw Material Suppliers

The site services numerous divisions, including: Abrasives Systems, Building and Commercial Services, Automotive, Commercial Home Improvement Markets, and Occupational Health & Environmental Safety. The site has numerous technologies, including Non-Wovens, Coating, Curing, Web Handling, Blown Micro Fiber, Extrusion, and Fiber Making.

About Prairie du Chien

Prairie du Chien is a small community located in a beautiful natural area. The town is located at the confluence of the Mississippi and Wisconsin Rivers, and is surrounded by 500 Foot bluffs. Outdoor recreation is outstanding in the area.

The Mississippi River is a major playground” for numerous outdoor activities at this town, including fishing, boating, water skiing/tubing, duck hunting, and bird watching. The river is full of many hidden” backwaters where you can get away to a quiet location. Many people keep a boat in one of the 2 marinas in and near the town.

There are dozens of miles of trails for Mountain Biking, Hiking, Skiing, and Horseback Riding within these parks.

The town has a population of 6,000 people, but offers much more than a typical town of that size has to offer, mainly due to the town’s long distance from any other major city. There are numerous restaurants, a nice coffee shop, a downtown that has been recently revitalized”, and a beautiful river front walkway. Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in any Engineering, Technical or Science field from an accredited university

Manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:

*
Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
*
Three (3) years of manufacturing experience is preferred
*
Experience in polymer chemistry and/or non-wovens technology
*
Self motivated engineer with strong analytical and project leadership skills.
*
Candidate must have good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
*
Six Sigma experience or Green Belt certification
*
Experience using Lean Manufacturing principles
*
Experience leading cross functional project management
*
Experience working with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements
*
Works well in a team environment
