We are seeking experienced, talented, energetic and self-driven individuals to join our Data Analytics Platform team. The platform powers business intelligence activity for our fast growing, state-of-the-art online advertising program for Amazon.com, other prime online properties and mobile devices. The platform uses technologies such as Hadoop, Pig, Hive, AWS and is able to store and process multi-petabytes data.
As a Big Data Engineer, you will:
* Design, develop and support a map-reduce-based data aggregation pipeline for processing billions of events a day
* Support development of data-mining and machine-learning algorithms for optimizing the advertising business
* Study state-of-the-art techniques in massively parallel frameworks and apply them to build tools to analyze big data
* Collaborate with teams across Amazon to help them get the most out of the platform you own
What you need:
* Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
* At least 3 years of hands-on experience with big-data platforms such as Hadoop, including detailed knowledge of their design and implementation
* Expert knowledge of and production code experience in Java
* Experience with Unix-based systems, relational databases and large-scale distributed systems
It is even better if you have:
* PhD in Computer Science or related field
* Experience with online advertising technologies, AWS, distributed algorithms
