About the Internship

A summer internship with ARTCO offers students the opportunity to make their mark. Our program invites the student to challenge their abilities within American River Transportation Company.

All internships have the intent of exposing students to real-life work situations within the competitive agricultural industry. Our program promotes the development of the student while providing a training ground for potential future employees, as it is our primary source for full-time employment.

Marine/Shipyard/Terminal Operations

Projects and training could involve any/all of the following topics:

• Lineboat trip

• Deckhand duties

• Fleet Boat Wheelhouse rides

• Barge washing and barge inspections

• Stevedoring operations

• Main engine overhaul including reconciliations

• Vessel inspection

• Safety observation audits

• Underwater spares inventory

• Shipyard repair specifications & drydocking

• Engine room computers

• Job shadowing

• Corporate office overview & orientation

• ADM Grain facility overview & orientation

After completing our internship program, a student will return to campus with a new focus on learning through their application of real-world experience from ARTCO.
