Power Plant Operator – Chattanooga, TN
This is a full time, hourly position.
The Boiler/Utilities Operator position at Southern Cellulose involves operational responsibility for the plants water treatment systems and four steam boilers. The water treatment system consists of 4 boiler feed water softeners, a process water clarifier, fixed media filters, and 5 process water softeners. The plants steam and water systems are comprehensive and extensive which require a high level of understanding of the cause and effect relationships they have with the balance of plant operations. Therefore the aptitude and skills of the candidate must be commensurate with the requirements of the position.

Key roles:

·Focus on safety, quality and integrity.

·Shift operation (procedures) and equipment checks.

·Water treatment lab tests.

·Generate accurate documentation and log records.

·Troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance boiler and water equipment and auxiliaries.

·Receiving and handling chemicals.

Job Qualifications:

·Applicant must possess basic math and problem solving skills.

·Applicant must be able to work in all types of weather, dusty, and noisy environments with the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

·Applicant must be able to stand for long periods, work in confined spaces and have good physical dexterity; i.e., bend, kneel, climb steps and ladders, and lift 50#.

·With training, the applicant may be asked to operate rolling stock such as forklifts or skid steer loader.

·Attendance and punctuality is required.

·Applicant must have the ability to work independently in an organized safe manner.

·Applicants must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

·Good computer and mechanical skills a plus.
