Position Title: Production Supervisor: Front Line Shift Supervisor

Corn Division – Glycols Plant

This is a Salaried Exempt position.

Job Description:

The ADM Glycols plant is seeking Production Shift Supervisors to direct all shift activities and supervise shift operators involved in the day to day operational activities of the Glycols Plant in Decatur, IL. The plant producesUSP & Industrial grades of renewable sourced propylene glycol, glycerin, and co-products utilizing various production processes and operational functions. These include material handling, reactors, distillation, and other separations.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility will be to ensure successful operation of the ADM Glycols facility through supervision / training of shift operators and personnel. Interpersonal skills in cooperating with supervisors, engineers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and production operators are critical to achieving ADM Glycols plant goals. These include:

·Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and production procedures / policies.

·Supervising the performance and development of hourly production personnel through training and coaching.

·Manage and control production processes to meet quality specifications and production schedules.

·Identify and troubleshoot production problems; optimize yields and productivity; and controlling costs.

·Participate in team management of the plant.

The employee will work in a plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lifting up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Physical qualification to wear a respirator is required.Regular, prompt attendance and ability to work shifts (rotating), weekends and holidays is a must. The candidate must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.

Required Experience and Skills:

·Minimum of 3 years of production and supervisory experience or equivalent.

·Prompt and consistent self-starter with ability to manage deadlines while juggling multiple tasks

·Demonstrated participation and leadership in plant safety programs.

·Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.

·Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel in a fair, honest, and direct way.

·The candidate must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills, and strive for continuous improvement.

·Technical aptitude in math, chemistry, and chemical processes.

·Ability and willingness to travel as required for training.

·Basic computer knowledge

·An Associate’s degree in a science or technology related discipline is desired

·Knowledge of production plant equipment and processes is desired.

·Technical competence in mechanics, instrumentation, controls, and utility systems.

·Demonstrated ability as a chemical operator.
