Senior Services Licensed Practical Nurse Evening 2:00pm-10:30pm Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to organize and prioritize resident care and ability to work with others. Job requires continuous verbal communication skills. Job requires frequent reading skills and written communication skills. Education/ Licensure: Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Training program in an accredited institution. Must have a Current LPN License in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so license must be held in the state of your residence. BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Lifespan Competencies The caregiver must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age -specific needs as described in the department policies, procedures, or performance appraisal standards. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Lifting: Job requires occasional carries of up to 35 pounds, lifts from floor to waist high up to 35 pounds, and lifts from knee to waist high up to 35 pounds. Posturing: Job requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping, prolonged bending / stooping for over three minutes, repeated bending / stooping for more than four minutes, squatting, kneeling, reaching over shoulder level, pushing / pulling of carts and other objects, crawling, crouching. Speech, Hearing and Vision: Job requires frequent talking and hearing ordinary conversation. Job requires occasional responding to auditory alarm / signals, seeing with near vision, seeing with far vision, seeing with distinguished colors, seeing with depth perception. Coordination: Job requires occasional coordination for repetitive action simple grasping, coordination for repetitive action in firm grasping, coordination for repetitive action in fine manipulating, repetitive finger motion, and working with sharp objects, and pushing and pulling of carts. Environmental Exposure: Job requires occasional exposure to water, dust, fumes, odors, mists, toxic gases, poor ventilation, antineoplastic agents, adhesives, biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards, exposure to noise, and exposure to blood borne pathogens. Equipment: Bed scales, whirlpool lifts and tubs, food cart, and mechanical lifts. Mental Effort: CONSIDERABLE: Requires frequent concentration to a large volume of work, which must be completed within a specified period of time. Involves daily or weekly deadlines with frequent periods of unusually heavy workloads. Requires occasional phone or personal contact with customers, physicians, employees, and/or residents/patients who may become verbally or physically abusive where the incumbent must retain personal composure.
