Medical Reception Specialist
Mostly day time hours with covering an evening shift until 7:00pm.
1Answers telephone and responds as appropriate per clinic guidelines.
-able to triage and transfer calls in a timely manner
2. Assists with patient appointment activities
-scheduling/rescheduling patient appointments; follow-up on no show appointments
-provides patient confirmation calls per clinic specifications
3. Greets and directs patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.
4. Records messages accurately and legibly
-messages distributed promptly to the appropriate person and location
5. Collects and records co-payment from patients
-accurate documentation of transactions
-reconciliation of cash drawer receipts
Preferred: One or more years providing customer service, preferably in an ambulatory health care setting.
Have worked in a customer service environment with a proven track record of providing quality and excellent service for a minimum of one year.
Preferred: High school diploma; GED equivalent with an aptitude in math
Office/clerical and computer skills, experience in scheduling and electronic medical records
Systems, CPT, ICD-9 and, insurance protocols knowledge, medical terminology
Ability to speak Spanish a plus
-alpha/numeric filing system
-customer service, to include telephone etiquette
-computer and computer applications
-organization policies, regulations and procedures
-risk management; quality improvement
-ICD-9, CPT coding
Skills as demonstrated through:
-continuous accurate verbal and written communication, to include appropriate grammar, correct spelling, legible handwriting, reading comprehension and follow-through on instructions
-establishing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
-continuous time, resource and task management
-access, manipulate and maintain computer data per clinic specifications -correct and accurate basic math applications to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; application of calculator functions
-type approximately 40 words per minute
-access computer information
-speak clearly and concisely
-maintain confidentiality of issues and circumstances
-react calmly, professionally in emergency situations, and in times of conflict resolution
-work closely with the physicians and provider(s) responding appropriately and timely to requests
-present a positive business appearance according to clinic dress code
-demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply all knowledge and skills
