Paramedic

One 24 hour shift and one 12 hour shift per week.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Functions within the scope of practice of a Critical Care Paramedic as defined within state regulations.

Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures, including wound cleansing and dressing, immobilization, medical administration under medical direction, IV insertions, and re-assessment of patient condition and status.

Provides any and all ACLS interventions including but not limited to endotracheal intubation and cardiac defibrillation.

Performs role of Critical Care Paramedic during Trauma Alerts.

Responds to Code Blue in the Emergency Department and, when requested, on the hospital campus.

Provides patient transportation within the Emergency Department and on the hospital campus as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

Minimum 6 months experience in pre-hospital setting is preferred.
Previous hospital experience as a nurse extender within past 48 months helpful

Education/Licensure

Required:

Current Paramedic Certification

BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED¿, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Safety and Health Institute: ACLS, American College of Surgeons: ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and American College of Emergency Physician: ACLS

Must possess a current Type D (Chauffeur) Drivers License or the class O for NE and Chauffer if they have an Iowa Drivers license.
