The Pencil Leadership Program and the Astoria Allstate office are currently working with P.S. 201s (Flushing, New York) after-school program serving children in grades Pre-K 5th Grade.

This program is seeking volunteers to work in the after-school program. This would be perfect opportunity for graduate students enrolled in education programs who are looking for the teaching experience needed for todays competitive recruiting environment.

We are looking for enthusiastic, bright teacher candidates who want to make a difference. Elementary schools are the focus at the moment; therefore students enrolled in either an early education program, or childhood education program are preferred.

Requirements

oEnthusiastic in working with young students
oWilling and able to tutor in the following subjects: math, science, English, social studies
oGood communication skills
oSelf starter, good organizer
oLeadership qualities valued; role model for the students

oEnrolled in education program --A plus

Students should be able to work 2:30 to 6:00 PM at least three times a week.
This is an unpaid internship.
