A Professional Internship For Select Actors and Jazz Instrumentalists

*Course Credit Available / SAG and Actors Equity Membership Eligibility via AFTRA

This is an intense one week professional internship in New York City for select actors and for exceptional jazz instrumentalists who wish to expand their talents and career options as musician-actors.

Selected candidates will be featured Off Broadway in three performances of the jazz play It's a Hardbop Life** in midtown Manhattans theatre district.

**The production is in development for a limited Broadway run and significantly differs from prior versions of the play.

Selected candidates can receive course credit as allowed by their academic institutions and may also elect to enroll in our Union Eligibility Program which provides a pathway to membership in the AFTRA, AEA and SAG unions.

Performing Categories

Actors- Female
Actors of exceptional ability, any ethnicity, will be considered to play the role of JULIE , a superficial, headstrong, cocktail lounge singer. AGE RANGE 25-30. Only minimal singing ability is required for this role.

Musicians- Trumpet, Saxophone, Piano

Instrumentalists who possess strong improvisational abilities and who can perform in the Hardbop style of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers will be considered. Candidates must also possess stage presence and the ability to deliver minor dialog.

Union Eligibility Program

Membership in the acting unions provides access to casting opportunities generally out of reach to non-union actors. The first step to joining the major unions - SAG (Screen Actors Guild) AEA (Actors Equity Association) and AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists)- is by obtaining principal employment under at least one of these unions contracts. We offer a pathway via AFTRA for interested participants to obtain eligibility to join SAG and AEA in addition to AFTRA by participation in our video production about American Youth Symphony Programs. A more detailed package about our Union Eligibility Program will be provided should you be accepted into the Off Broadway Acting Internship program.
Program Fee $1,390
