The Training Specialist (Automation Products) has the following responsibilities. • Delivery of Automation & Drives product training: This is the largest component of the job function and is centered on the delivery of Schneider Electric's product training courses and the instruction of our customers. Training courses may be delivered from a Schneider Electric facility or a customer's site. Business travel is required to cover the customer base and travel will be primarily focused on Western Canada. We strive to keep travel to a minimum and a technical trainer can expect to be delivering training 50% of the time. It is preferred that the successful candidate will reside in Edmonton or Winnipeg but access to a major airport and a willingness to travel are just as valuable. The position is responsible for coordination with training administration to ensure that all training materials/hardware are available and in place to successfully conduct each training class with a high degree of customer satisfaction. This requires good proactive communication with the training coordinator, customer, site personnel and shipping carriers. Heavy lifting may be required at times during the setup of courses. • Course & Training Simulator Development and Maintenance: Each member of the training team is involved in the upkeep, maintenance and development of our standard courseware. Strong computer, word processing and writing skills are desirable. Trainers are expected to maintain their equipment in good working order and repair as necessary. This includes ordering replacement parts, hands-on troubleshooting and repair of simulators and computer hardware. • Business Development Work with internal employees, customers and distributors to define new training opportunities for existing courses and new courses, prepare training quotations. Help to ensure the training sales pipeline is full by promoting our training offer and growing training sales revenue. Collaborate with other internal functions to promote our training offer and support our mutual business goals and strategy. The position is responsible for the creation of an annual training schedule related to the courses taught by the trainer; ensuring training sales quotas are attained. It is important that this training schedule reflect current customer demands in the responsible regional marketplace. • Personal and Professional Development: The incumbent is responsible to ensure that both their product knowledge and skills are current and that they continually improve their soft-skills to incorporate adult education principles and behaviors. This responsibility is accomplished by attending available educational courses or self study on new product/technology offerings, delivery/education techniques. This development includes developing safe and ethical work practices aligned with Schneider Electric principals of responsibilities. • Administrative and Reporting: Assist with training coordination, planning & scheduling as required, be an active team member and ensure training classes are delivered with quality and customer satisfaction. Manage all company assets ensuring the security and safe keeping of these assets at all times. Handle non-training activities like telephone, meetings, e-mail, monthly reporting, etc… 2. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • College level accreditation, or equivalent experience, C.E.T./R.E.T./P_ENG preferred. • Instrument or Electrical trades qualification would be desirable. • Minimum of 5 years of Industrial experience in maintenance, design, training or technical support role for automation & drives. Preferably with Schneider Electric PLC's, HMI's & Drives. • Exposure or experience with industrial control software desirable • Superior computer skills in a Microsoft Windows/Office environment. • Excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills • Must be well organized and a self starter • Ability to work and travel unsupervised • Adult education certification or equivalent training experience is strongly desired • Valid Canadian passport is required Care.
