The Director of Medical Affairs is accountable for the design and execution of the Medical Affairs Business Plan for the Brand in support of the Joint AZ/BMS Medical Affairs Diabetes Team. This will encompass initial launch planning and execution through future lifecycle management as determined by the product. The responsibilities will include: launch planning, competitive medical insight and intelligence gathering, provision of medical content for training programs, speaker training, organization of advisory boards and publication planning, building and maintaining relationships with TL's and professional organizations. Major Responsibilities: *Accountable for the design and execution of the Medical Affairs components of the Brand Medical Plan *Responsible for development and execution of customer programs aligned with the Brand Medical Plan *Responsible for the delivery of medical and scientific insight back to the Brand Team *Responsible for identification and targeting of key clinical investigators for key clinical trials *Represents the key interface between the needs of the US customers and Brand Team through interactions with all Medical Affairs functions. *Accountable for the optimal strategy for appropriate use of medical information by the Medical Affairs team *Accountable for integrating respective Brand Medical Affairs Teams with the Brand Business Planning Process *Accountable for providing U.S. customer view to Brand Teams in order to develop customer-led strategies and development plans *Responsible for identification and targeting of clinical investigators for key clinical trials *Responsible for leading the development of the Brand KOL strategy and serves as the Brand MA link to the field medical team *Proven experience in a complex matrix environment is desirable with clear examples of being able to deliver high value results as a member of an inter-disciplinary team *The candidate must be able to work across the BMS/AZ Diabetes Alliance by demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to influence without authority and be able to align the team on developing and delivering key objectives while maintaining a collaborative environment *Willingness and ability to travel to conferences, scientific meetings and other work-related locations consistent with a Joint Venture in Diabetes *On a day-to-day basis, this position will report to the respective Medical Lead for each product for the AZ-BMS Diabetes Alliance Minimum Requirements: *Advanced degree in science-related field, such as Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent *>3 years managing programs in a team environment *Candidates will have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Medical (Medical Affairs) or Clinical Development in diabetes/metabolics therapeutic area within the pharmaceutical industry *Strong knowledge of medical strategy, clinical development, and medical science liaison areas *Ability to manage a diverse group of responsibilities *Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment Preferred Requirements: *Doctorate in Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent *MBA *Minimum 5 years experience in a strategy-setting role within Medical Affairs *Global experience within the pharmaceutical industry *Working knowledge of FDA requirements *Knowledge of medical and commercial strategies *Ability to manage a diverse group of responsibilities *Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment *People management experience *Negotiation skills Apply on Company Website |
