Entry into this title requires Technical Title Plan (TTP) Board Approval. This position requires an individual with proven technical skills within a specific technology discipline. Individuals attaining this technical level will have or be capable of exhibiting significant contributions in specific complex technical areas. Their contribution can be external to the company but shall be primarily internal. They shall be recognized in the company as a technical leader within a specific area and may lead projects of small to medium size and technical breath. Working as a Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be required to demonstrate your highly technical skills within a specific technology discipline. To attain this technical level, you will be required to have or be capable of exhibiting significant contributions in specific complex technical areas. As the Principal Member of Technical Staff, you will be recognized in the company as a technical leader within a specific area and may lead projects of small to medium size and technical breath. Overall Purpose: Develops solutions to complex business and technical problems or issues of complex scope using advanced engineering and scientific principles.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise. Provides technical expertise within project teams.

Education: Required: PhD, Masters or Bachelors degree in an approved field such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited university. Refer to the Technical Title Plan for a complete list of degrees. Experience: PhD in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role. Entry into this title will require TCP Governance Board review. Supervisory: No.

Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATTs compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:


The perspective candidate will have expert experience in the development of Device Drivers for a Linux / ARM platform related to home automation and control systems (controller) solutions. The subcomponents of the controller include RF communications, microprocessor, power supply, and generalized analog / digital peripheral control electronics. The candidate must have knowledge in the development of electronic systems based on requirements defined by specific product and business organizations. In addition to developing and testing device drivers, the candidate must show competency in the evaluation of the electronics subsystems integral to the development of the associated device drivers. Our group works closely with system engineers and we participate in the full product lifecycle from pre-silicon all the way through to release and support of full software designs.


Required Qualifications (Technical):


· Wi-Fi driver development and hardware bring-up


· 3G / LTE radio module driver development and hardware bring-up


· USB(2/3), Serial RS-232, 802.3, Firewire and various other peripheral device driver development and hardware bring-up


· Significant knowledge of Z-Wave, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and various other communications protocols and technologies


· Working knowledge of ARM processors


· Working knowledge of embedded systems

Detailed Requirements:


1. Design and develop new Wi-Fi, 3G, and LTE driver features for media networking products


2. Bring-up new SOC chipsets with PCIE, USB, PIO interfaces and develop complete solutions


3. Develop 802.11ac software feature, tuning system performance


4. Maintain and enhance existing software architecture


5. Full life cycle software feature development from requirements through design, implementation and support



Job Requirements


The following are the specific required skills and experience:


· Required BS in CS/EE with 15 years of related experience or MS CS/EE with 12 years of related experience.


· Demonstrable experience with the development of device drivers on Linux platforms.


· Detailed experience as an assembler and C language programmer.


· Significant debugging skills on embedded platform


· Background in wireless networking and controller / gateway development
