Title: Manufacturing Engineer

GENERAL FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for managing packaging mechanics, maintaining equipment, reducing equipment changeover time and improving the equipment uptime.

Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all equipment operates efficiently. Diagnose and correct production or processes that are not operating efficiently.
* Utilize SMED techniques to reduce changeover time.
* Ensure that all equipment is maintained to ensure high levels of uptime.
* Ensure that mechanics are properly trained and utilized. Manage mechanic staff across three shifts.
* Drive transformation initiatives to support the overall department goals of safety, quality and cost.
* Develop and maintain an effective, high morale, highly engaged work force.
* Expand the application of total employee involvement processes including work redesign, empowerment, and quality and productivity improvement teams.
* Pursue employee development through training, empowerment, and recognition utilizing the Performance Management Process.
* Works with team to set goals, objectives and KPIs in accordance with the organization's goals.
* Responsible for management of hourly Associates including hiring, training, coaching and development, recognition, progressive discipline up to and including termination.
* Communicates frequently and timely required information to all hourly Associates in an effective manner.
* Other duties as assigned.
* BS/BA in Engineering or related technical degree is required.
* 2 - 5 years experience in manufacturing. SMED experience a plus.
* Must possess solid supervisory skills to manage mechanics and trades across three shifts.
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Must be able to lead/influence hourly teams in the development and implementation of business objectives.
* Must be able to make immediate decisions with limited information and rapid assimilation of facts.
* Willing to work flexible hours and weekends if needed.
