About This Position

The manager will be accountable for the Labor and Delivery Unit and serve as a visible role model for the nursing staff by providing quality patient care services. This position will be required to convey the vision and direction for the following strategic areas: 1. Outcome monitoring and quality improvement in patient care 2. Promotion of a structured professional relationship among and between the medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary services. 3. Retention and recruitment of nurses and other patient care professionals. 4. Staff development for individuals involved in patient care through self-improvement in education and experience. Five (5 )years nursing experience required and two (2) years nursing management experience preferred. Education level necessary to obtain licensure and certifications is required. BSN is required.
Personal characteristics of patience, tact, cheerfulness and enthusiasm towards patients and activity programs are essential. The applicant must be able to cope with all types of personalities. Strong patient care orientation, participative, team-building , team management, consensus building, stress management and confrontation, and implementation of change are examples of the necessary skills needed for this position. Excellent oral, written, and communication skills are a must. The ability to develop interpersonal/professional relationship with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, patients, and visitors are essential. CA RN, BLS, NRP and ACLS required. Certification RNC Specialty within 3 years of hire.
