About This Position

The nursing practice specialist for L&D and Family Care departments will have accountability for planning, staff development, orientation, patient/family education, quality management and research, consultation, communication, professional relationships and professional development as appropriate. 2 to 3 years experience required in labor and delivery and post-partum. 4+ years experience preferred. Current CA RN license is required. ACLS, NRP, BLS, STABLE required. Instructor NRP within 6 months of hire. BSN required. MSN preferred. Advanced Practice Skills in labor and delivery and post-partum. Working knowledge of several software systems. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and procedures, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have ability to critically think and problem solve. Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification required. OB specialty certification preferred or within 6 months of hire date. Founded in 1956, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital was created to meet the needs of our community, and has grown from a small local facility to a large regional hospital serving all of Kern County.
