About This Position

The Program Manager, Diabetes Education, is a registered professional nurse with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise who provides program leadership, consultation, and education to medical center staff in the care of diabetic patients of all age groups. Selectively he/she provides direct diabetes education to patients/significant others in inpatient, outpatient, and classroom settings. The Program Manager, Diabetes Education also serves as a leader and member of the diabetes interdisciplinary team, performing duties in support of and in compliance with the medical center"s performance improvement plan. The Joint Commission, and other licensing and regulatory agency requirements/standards. Minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience in an acute care setting; 1-2 years experience providing education to diabetic patients of all age groups; demonstrated leadership and educator skills/experience, working with nursing and other health care providers to implement change; demonstrated organizational, customer service and communication skills. BSN required; MSN preferred; coursework in principles of child and adult learning and curriculum design preferred. Knowledgeable in principles of patient and staff education and curriculum development for all age groups as related to Diabetes Education. Current CA RN. Current Certification as a Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred;
