TITLE: Gastroenterologist<><> Newark Beth Israel Medical Center<><> <><>DEPARTMENT: Department of Medicine<><> Division of Gastroenterology<><> <><>REPORTS TO: Chairman, Department of Medicine<><> <><>JOB SUMMARY: Physician shall provide direct patient care services, supervision, and education of residents in the Adult Health Clinic, Internal Medicine and Specialty Practice, Endoscopy Unit and Inpatient Units. Responsible for working with leadership to attain Internal Medicine goals. These services are to be executed in a manner that insures the successful execution of the strategic medicine plan in consultation with the Chair of Medicine.<><> <><>RESPONSIBILITIES: <><> <><>a) Physician shall perform professional duties under this Agreement in accordance with currently approved methods and standards of the Internal Medicine Specialty and, as applicable, the bylaws, rules and regulations of the Medical Staff of the Hospital. Such care shall be rendered in a compassionate, courteous, professional manner and in such a manner as to assure a positive public image and reinforce the level of professionalism which is expected by the Hospital?s patients.<><>b) Physician shall interact with the Hospital?s employees, medical staff, and patient/family members in a manner which reflects and reinforces the Hospital?s basic values and mission (as embodied policies adopted by the Hospital from time to time and its commitment to quality and service.<><>c) Physician shall provide assigned hours per week in the Adult Medical Clinic, Internal Medicine and Specialty Practice , and rotate service call.<><>d) The foregoing shall include evening and weekend office hours which Physician shall maintain. Physician shall provide telephone on call coverage and inpatient services in accordance with the Hospital?s policies and procedures and this Agreement, which shall be in addition to the responsibilities performed during the above referenced hours. Weekend and evening hospital and telephone call coverage will be shared on a rotational basis, in accordance with the procedures established by the Department Chairman.<><>e) Physician shall pursue the Hospital?s goals in maintaining a successful practice that are leading edge, high quality, competitive, financially and medically viable.<><>f
