The Laboratory Technician I performs routine Laboratory duties utilizing established protocol and procedures, which include setting up specimens and conducting Laboratory tests where range of possible results is limited.Draws patient blood specimens.Specific duties may vary by area assigned.

Sort, label, and record patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.

Draw patient blood samples following established procedures, and prepares specimens for transport to Laboratory for testing.

Operate centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.

Conduct routine Laboratory tests and procedures such as dipstick urinalysis, washing blood, packing cells, and splitting blood units, where range of possible results or errors are limited.

Record and report test results according to established procedures .
