The Medical Technologist is responsible for the prompt, efficient, and accurate performance, validation, and reporting of laboratory test results which are utilized for the purposes of prognosis, diagnosis, treatment, and research. * This is a PRN Wekends and as needed -Baylor Medical Center Garland EDUCATION: - Preferred: Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology (at or within 3 months of hire) - Acceptable: Bachelor's Degree in a Clinical Lab Science, Chemical, Physical or Biological Science (at or within 3 months of hire) - Acceptable: Associates Degree in Clinical Lab Science or 90 semester hours of qualified* science course work, completion of an approved medical laboratory training program and five years of experience in an appropriate medical laboratory setting. (* Qualified by the certifying agency.) EXPERIENCE: Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program or 2 years experience in a medical laboratory setting with B.S. Degree. CERTIFICATIONS: At least one required - MLS (or MT) ASCP or equivalent, including - MT (AMT), - MT (AAB), - CLS - HHS (HEW), - ASCP specialty certifications for a specific discipline Must be certified at or within 3 months of hire. Certification maintenance is required according to guidelines of the certifying agency.
