Description
Blue Care Network in Southfield, Michigan is currently seeking a Senior Application Developer for their Southfield team. The primary responsibilities of this position will include complex application development, maintenance and support specifically within a Java / SQL technical environment. With minimal supervision, this Senior Application Developer will provide support to existing production applications and perform complex technical analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, deployment and implementation of new applications using existing and emerging platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical architectural background and perform technical lead duties.
- Provides mentoring and knowledge transfer to Application Developers including providing input to performance evaluations, training and developing staff and assigning work to staff and directs the workflow assigned to his / her area of jurisdiction.
- Supports business process, problem analysis and consultation.
- Processes open defect/maintenance tickets and correct technical errors.
- Ensures application, P2P and promotion package documentation is current and complete.
- Provides after hours "on call" support
Required Departmental Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a major in computer science, computer information systems or related field required or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree an additional five (5) years of development/support experience required in addition to the experience requirement listed below.
- Three (5) years experience working in a support / development environment required including:
- Java experience required
- SQL experience required
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple project and timelines required.
- Expert in multiple specialized phases of application development required.
- Ability to work independently within guidelines, provide technical consulting on complex projects considering equipment capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results required.
- Experience in formal Quality Review process, including but not limited to, instructing, directing, mentoring and reviewing other team members required.
- Ability to ensure SDLC methodology is followed, including conducting inspections and post implementation reviews required.
- Ability to act as a primary liaison with business personnel to conduct analysis of organizational needs for development and modifications of new and existing applications required.
- Ability to create detailed technical design, code, test, debugs, document, and maintain applications required.
- Knowledge of FTP and HIPAA compliant ANSI formatted EDI transactions required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Excellent problem solving skills required.
- Occasional travel within the state may be required.
Preferred Departmental Qualifications:
- Three (5) years experience working in a support / development environment required including:
- Vitria experience preferred
- EAI experience preferred.
- Visual Basic and /or C++ preferred
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Knowledge of Health Care processing preferred.
