DescriptionIn the midst of shrinking education budgets, Behind the Book (BtheB) offers NYC students a refreshingly creative and empowering experience. We bring authors and their books into individual classrooms to build literacy skills and create a community of life-long readers and writers. Authors teach a series of workshops that engage and inspire students and culminate in the publication of a writing project, such as an illustrated book, a school newspaper, or a short story anthology.
The Program Intern will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator to support all aspects of our school programs. This is an unpaid position based in our Harlem office. Candidates can receive academic credit. Commitment is for one semester, 2-3 days per week, hours are flexible. Program Intern Responsibilities will include: supporting staff with school visit details, including cataloging student work and keeping track of program documents such as evaluation forms, release forms etc. conducting research on books and authors for our programs, and ordering review copies of books. managing the Behind the Book library planning and participating in community events and fundraisers provide support to Executive Director and Board of Directors as necessary Apply on Company Website |
