Provide two (2) mechanical design engineering resources to supplement internal resources for designing an electromechanical medical device. Work will involve participating in the mechanical design of a medical device. Typical activities shall include modular specification generation, mechanism design, mechanical analysis (e.g. FEA, kinematics, tolerance stack up), system architecture design review, and team meeting participation. All design must be done in 3D using SolidEdge. The development of final 2D CAD drawings will also be included.
May also be asked to assist in working with component suppliers in the development of tooling and/or fixtures for building engineering models. This may require some amount of limited travel. All devices will be classified as medical devices and must meet the FDA?s requirements for design and manufacture of medical devices.
Requirements: 1st Choice BSME or any relevant engineering degree with 7-10 years+ well referenced, successful product design for optimum manufacturability(design for high volume manufacture) using and being proficient using Solid Edge 3-D CAD software and prefer that this person have some experience in FEA, as this product is a electro-mechanical load bearing medical device that is produced in higher volume. This means that this person must have experience designing parts that are metal, plastics, and vacuum formed at a higher production level and not a person who has only worked on prototype parts that are one of a kind or limited production.
The perfect person will have a strong working knowledge of FDA, UL and any regulatory agency codes that will effect the design of this product to gain FDA approval.
Strong mechanical engineering design skills with experience on high volume, load-bearing commercial products. Experience with platformed products is also a plus (e.g. white good appliances or automotive). Strong experience in FEA and kinematics design analysis.
6-sigma and DFx experience preferable.
Solid Edge 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.
Experience in the design of cost sensitive components
Experience in designing parts using the following materials and processes: sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, plastic vacuum forming, plastic blow-molding, powdered metal castings, aluminum castings, and steel castings. Designs should include focus on industrial design for aesthetics when required.
There are currently no system interface requirements for this product.
2nd choice..degreed with the same higher volume product design using solid edge but from the appliance or automotive industry instead of medical.
