Supplier Development Engineer

Description: Essential Functions:

? Performs/participates in on-site supplier audits to qualify or verify supplier capabilities, processes and quality system Quality.
? Works closely with manufacturing, engineering and purchasing to improve supplied parts, components and subsystems.
? Assists suppliers in implementation of appropriate Quality/Manufacturing tools to ensure quality products, on-time launches at full production approval, irreversible corrective action.
? Reviews supplier submitted Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
? Reviews supplier corrective actions.
? Interfaces with Grote operations, Quality, Purchasing and Engineering to determine supplier requirements, part/component requirements, specifications or tolerances and communicates those to the supplier.
? Supports NPI process, procedures and flow.
? Follows other instructions and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
? Develops understanding of Advanced Technology needs from supply chain.
? Identifies Advanced supply base capabilities and gaps.
? Develops action plans to ensure short term supply chain reliability and consistency.
? Identifies and qualifies strategic long term suppliers to support overall Advanced Technology business plan.
? Provides transition plan from ?New Supplier? development status to ?Sustained Quality? supplier status
? Continuously assessing supplier based risk and developing action plans to mitigate those risks. Follows risk mitigation plans through to resolution.
Requirements: Equipment:

Must be proficient in use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Project, Excel; data entry and graphical analysis.

Skills and Education Required:

? Bachelor?s degree in Engineering preferred.
? Electrical, Lighting or Material Science background preferred.
? 3 to 5 years of related experience.
? Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
? Good understanding of statistical methods and quality tools such as SPC, CpK, APQP, D/PFMEA, VSM, Control Plans, Gage R&R, etc.
? Varied Manufacturing/Engineering experience.
? Knowledge of automotive supplier quality standards.
? Working knowledge of TS 16949 requirements and AIAG specific processes.
? Highly motivated with a sense of urgency and dedication to accomplishing tasks.
? Willingness to travel, often with short notice.
? Has experience developing and managing advanced technology suppliers such as semi-conductor wafer manufacturing, LEDs, laminate materials, thermoplastic adhesives, laminate coatings, thermoplastic adhesives, etc.
? Understands supply chain dynamics and supplier best practices needed for long term success for the Advanced Technology group.
? Strong communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees.
? Strong organizational and follow up skills
