Job Number: 137960 Category: RR - Purchasing Description: Primary purpose of role The Value Engineer - Commodity will utilize manufacturing knowledge and commercial awareness to work with the commodity team to understand the costs of purchasing goods and services enabling the business to avoid or reduce cost. Key responsibilities and deliverables (max 6) 1) Supporting the development of component cost understanding using value improvement tools (mostly Excel-based) & techniques (see #3). 2) Identifying and developing cost reduction opportunities, mitigating price increases, and managing competing priorities to deliver timely introduction & delivery of new product and Legacy business at target cost - through engagement with the supply chain. 3) Assist with any of the following Value Improvement techniques/services: a. Data Analysis / Problem / Issue / Other b. DFx / User Friendly Cost Standard (UFCS) Supplier Workshop c. Training / Negotiation Support d. New Should-Cost / Update to Existing e. New Gap Analysis / Update to Existing f. New Delta Cost Estimate g. UFCS Model Creation / Model or Architecture Update 4) Providing feedback to the Value Engineering Core team, Global Commodity Leaders (GCL), and Buyers on supplier cost structures, commodity cost drivers, machine costs, labor rates, etc. Requirements: Basic Qualifications ? Bachelors degree with 5+ years experience with manufacturing/electronics processes. ? Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers, unit cost analysis, overhead, and variable costs. ? OR Masters degree with 3+ years experience with manufacturing/electronics processes and/or manufacturing router preparation, with a strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers, unit cost analysis, overhead, and variable costs. ? Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering experience, ideally with cost reduction & cost-modeling experience. ? Experience and understanding of commercial and financial awareness, as well as project management. ? Advanced working knowledge of Excel, including the use of formulas and pivot tables. Preferred Qualifications ? Nacelle, fabrication, composites, controls, installation and/or electronic systems experience. ? Machining, forging, or casting experience. ? Aero or Power generation gas turbine experience. ? Ability to deliver results through the use of your understanding of others, customer focus, and command skills. ? Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. ? Ability to work well in cross-functional teams which include internal and external customers.
