PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: To introduce students to Unilever through a challenging and rewarding summer internship, this offers a first-hand glimpse of the Associate Brand Manager role, while learning marketing and operations practices working with some of the world’s leading brands. The internship will combine formal training with practical hands-on experience working alongside other members of a brand team and the opportunity to contribute to business goals. The aim is to use this experience as a pathway to future employment. Through their individual assignments and training courses, all students will gain exposure to the following areas: • Brand Communication • Consumer and Shopper Insight • Marketing Operations • Customer and Channel Planning • Digital and Social Marketing • Brand Communication and Activation • Shopper Marketing Specific brand assignments will vary, but past interns have had the opportunity to support product launches, lead a focus group, provide recommendations to senior leaders and participate on cross-functional teams. The ABM intern will be fully integrated into the business team, and the assignment will allow a realistic view of the full-time Brand Management role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Plan and execute a marketing project for one of Unilever’s brands with tangible impact in the marketplace • Participate in the development of new ideas, re-stages, product development, line extensions and advertising • Participate in the development and evaluation of creative executions, including packaging and promotion • Prepare analysis of business, consumer and competitive needs • Participate in the analysis of market research results • Understand the financial operations of a brand (P&L, advertising spend, etc.) SUCCESS PROFILE: Candidates for the role of associate brand manager intern will have completed their first year of an MBA program, ideally in Marketing. He/she will possess strong leadership competencies; analytical ability and strategic thinking skills; strong communication skills; the ability to understand complex business issues and to manage effectively in a fast moving, dynamic environment; the ability to be creative, demonstrating consumer empathy, a self-starter who likes to make decisions and has a passion for Marketing. Prior experience in Consumer Packaged Goods, marketing, or an agency environment is a strong plus.
