Internship Program Overview: The Summer Internship role is the primary pathway to beginning a career in Customer Development at Unilever. Over the course of the summer each intern is assigned a key business project to own that incorporates many of the job responsibilities and skill sets of a Sales Analyst, the entry-level full-time position in Customer Development. Skill sets utilized and further developed during the Summer Internship include presentation skills, team working, leadership, analytics, and building insights into action to deliver business solutions. Both Interns and Analysts are key components of the Customer Development team structure, with each team dedicated to one or more key customers (i.e. Wal*Mart, Target, CVS), brands, or product categories in a variety of locations. Interns engage in proactive analysis of current business trends to identify future opportunities to strengthen and/or grow our business and minimize potential risks to our current business. At the conclusion of the summer, all Interns will return to the Unilever headquarters in New Jersey and present their project findings to a panel of key business leaders. Following the Summer Internship an intern may be invited to join Unilever as a Full-Time employee or rehired as an intern for the following year.

Job Responsibilities: In addition to delivering his/her assigned summer project, the Intern will provide support to various members of the team as we look to strategically grow our brands at this customer, or on this category/brand team. This position will involve a high level of customer service and follow up in order to effectively meet the needs of both the internal and external customer base. Other Responsibilities included: • Independent work style where the intern engages in proactive and timely communication alongside in depth analytical support focused on business solutions. • Develop a good working knowledge of Unilever reporting systems and demonstrate the ability to capture information and incorporate into spreadsheets and Power Point presentations to provide regular updates to the Director and Team members. • Retrieve and analyze specific customer and/or category data using customer-specific systems as well as Nielsen and Merlin data to provide professional presentations in Power Point on brand and category trends (to include market share and rank reports). • Provide high quality information with short lead-time due to on-going and changing customer demands. • Interact with multiple touch points both inside and outside of the organization. • Complete other duties/projects as assigned. Key Skills & Abilities: • The ideal candidate will possess strong team and analytical skills; strategic thinking skills; leadership ability; initiative and enthusiasm for work in an unstructured environment; the ability to communicate effectively, especially as part of a team; and the ability to understand business issues outside of one’s area of expertise. • Must be proactive and self-driven and possess the ability to multi-task and maintain professional conduct.
