PURPOSE
Responsible for all drilling and related operations as the company's senior representative on the drilling rig.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
*
Manage and direct the activities of the Drilling Contractor and Drilling Service Contractors in the execution of the well program.
*
Ensure all BHP policies, management principles and standards are complied with.
*
Lead the HSE program on the rig and ensure its effectiveness.
*
Direct, supervise and optimize all rig operations.
*
Co-ordinate personnel, equipment and material requirements for rig operations.
*
Monitor, document and report all rig operations affecting the well.HSE RESPONSIBILITIES
*
Lead the HSE program on the rig and ensure its effectiveness.
*
Ensure that day-to-day operations meet the requirements of WWD100 HSE Policies and BHPB Petroleum FRC's.
*
Ensure that the drilling contractor's HSE management systems are implemented and are working effectively during all operations.
*
Monitor and report on drilling contractor and service contractor safety performance.
*
Lead the accident and incident investigation and reporting systems at the well site.
*
Ensure that JSA's, safety induction and other HSE initiatives are conducted as required at the well site.
*
On offshore rigs the contractors PIC will have ultimate responsibility for the safety of all personnel onboard the rig and the safety of the installation.
*
On land operations the BHP SDS may be the location PIC. If this is the case it will be detailed in the Campaign Bridging Document.
*
Demonstrate clearly commitment to HSE objectives by participation in pre-job, pre-tour and the weekly HSE meetings at the well site.
*
Review the contractors Permit to Work, Planned Maintenance Systems and other HSE control systems from time to time to ensure their implementation.
*
Knowledge of the WWD HSE Management System and provide suggestions for improvement based on using it.CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
*
Responsible to the Drilling Superintendent for all HSE aspects of Drilling Contractor and Third Party Service Contractor management at the well site.

*
Accountable BHP Billiton on-site representative for the direct HSE Management of the Drilling Contractors and associated Third Party Contractors and implementation by them of the WWD HSE Management Standard / Policies and BHPB Petroleum FRC throughout the well program.

*
Accountable for the direct contract management of all Engineering, Drilling, Completion and associated Third Party Services at the well site.

*
Assist with the planning, implementation and close-out of HSE Audits of Contractors and their equipment.
COMPETENCIES:
*
Good technical and operational understanding of drilling and/or completions.
*
Safety management skills.
*
One or two areas of technical or operations expertise.
*
Sound knowledge of WWD000 Drilling, Completion and Operational Policies.QUALIFICATIONS
*
Supervisor's well control.
*
Advanced drilling industry technical courses.
*
Risk management course.
*
Audit course.EXPERIENCE
*
7 plus years drilling and/or completions experience on several different well types.
*
Practical contractor experience is a plus for Drilling Supervisors.
