PURPOSE

The Facilities Engineering Manager role in Central Engineering manages a group of highly qualified technical professionals in the disciplines of Integrity, Rotating Equipment, Flow Assurance, Process, Mechanical, Civil, and Facilities Engineering. This role is accountable for ensuring that BHPB's global Petroleum work in these disciplines meets applicable internal and external requirements, is of requisite thoroughness, and is accurate. This role is also accountable for ensuring that associated fundamental processes (e.g., Integrity of Fixed Equipment, System Custodian) are embedded and effective in Production Units and, as required, capital projects. At times, this role also requires direct, personal problem solving in one of the above disciplines. This is a supervisory role that at times requires individual technical contribution and provides:

* Management of Central Engineering technical support in the above disciplines, on an as needed basis, to ongoing operations and projects in both the Production and Development Divisions globally
* Management of Central Engineering technical assurance via his/her team's participation in the review of engineering deliverables, peer reviews/assists, and fundamental Petroleum processes such as Management of Change and System Custodian.
* Facilities Engineering global technical requirements via the development, implementation, and performance monitoring of global standards (internal and external) and global processes
* Assurance that BHPB employees globally in the above disciplines are developing the skills needed to advance their capabilities and that BHPB has identified training or job opportunities that develop those skills
* Direct management and career development of the individuals in his/her team, and the associated administrative activities
* Networking capability with facility engineering managers at other operators and engineering contractors
ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Central Engineering Facilities Engineering Manager is accountable for ensuring that BHPB Petroleum global engineering work in the Integrity, Mechanical, Civil, Process, Flow Assurance, Rotating Equipment, and Facilities Engineering disciplines is done in accordance with applicable industry and BHPB standards, and that BHPB standards and requirements meet or exceed industry requirements. This role is also accountable for ensuring that fundamental BHPB engineering assurance processes (such as management of change, integrity of fixed equipment) are embedded and effective at operational sites and on capital projects as required. This role is also accountable for identifying the skills that are critical to the company in the disciplines listed above, monitoring those skills in the global organization, and ensuring that BHPB has identified training opportunities that allow development of those skills. Finally, this role is BHPB's point of contact to external entities regarding global issues and initiatives in the above disciplines.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This role requires extensive collaboration with a wide range of BHPB personnel in different geographic locations. Successful performance in the role will require the ability to:

* Form collaborative relationships with engineering, operations, and HSE management and individual contributors in different operating environments and on capital projects
* Develop an understanding of all of BHPB's Petroleum operations, existing projects, and future projects
* Assess gaps and strengths globally in the critical skills associated with the Integrity, Process, Mechanical, Rotating Equipment, Flow Assurance, and Facilities Engineering disciplines. Identify means to address the gaps in the global community.
* Quickly and accurately determine critical engineering issues at existing operations and on capital projects and delegate or nominate appropriate resources to resolve. At times, directly develop (jointly, with line personnel) solutions to those issues.
* Assess progress on critical global technical issues and take action to remediate if/as necessary.
* Identify and gain support for global engineering initiatives that would lead to increased safety, production, and/or efficiency. Formulate plans to embed the resulting processes in the PUs and delegate to appropriate resources.
Specific roles and responsibilities include:

* Ensure global adherence to relevant industry and BHPB Petroleum policies and practices, codes, regulations, and standards in the aforementioned disciplines.
* Assure requisite diligence and accuracy of critical engineering deliverables globally in the aforementioned disciplines
* Manage (plan, assure delivery, assess, and improve) the work of the Facilities Engineering team in the Central Engineering group
* Manage, in support of line operations, the response to urgent engineering issues by leveraging global engineering resources
* Identify the need for and lead the development, implementation, and operation of BHPB Petroleum standards and processes.
* Assure that skill requirements for the aforementioned discipline are developed by the individuals in his/her team; assess critical skill gaps in those disciplines and develop plans to address those gaps
* Interview and endorse offers to engineers prior to approvals
* Stay abreast of industry technical trends in the disciplines listed above and assess their applicability to BHPB operations and capital projects.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

This job requires a Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of oil and gas facilities experience:

* Comprehensive oil and gas facilities offshore and onshore experience including design, fabrication, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
* 8 years minimum experience in engineering and/or operations roles within the upstream petroleum industry
* Engineering and/or operations supervisory/management experience in a petroleum production operations environment
* Thorough understanding of offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities systems design, construction, and operation practices.
* Familiarity with current regulatory requirements in operated regions and applicable industry standards.
* Demonstrated technical & advisory skills, including the ability to interface with other relevant disciplines (e.g., operations, subsurface engineering) and influence the work and outcomes of individuals that do not directly report to this position.
* Very strong technical skills in either Process or Mechanical Engineering
Preferred candidates will have, in addition to the above, the following experience:

* Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental operational processes such as Management of Change, Case To Operate, Root Cause Analysis, Equipment Maintenance Strategies, etc.
