PURPOSE Monitors, maintains, and reports the operations of wells and sites on an assigned route. Inspects and maintains property and equipment on a routine basis. Works to optimize production in a safe, cost-effective manner. The Senior Operations Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the gathering and jurisdictional pipeline systems. Develops safe work processes and procedures and coordinates maintenance and operations with COI production personal and contract pipeline equipment within the company. The Senior Operations Technician ensures that the pipeline system is operated and maintained in compliance with all Company and applicable regulatory requirements as well. The Senior Field Operations Technician is viewed as the most advanced Operations Technician, acts as a lead and is capable of handling the most complex of duties with very limited to no supervision. Uses advanced knowledge and logic to analyze and solve compound problems. May supervise and/or assist in minor well maintenance and other jobs as assigned by management. May fill-in for field technicians or foreman as required. May organize and plan daily work schedules, including assigning projects to lower level employees. Demonstrates exemplary leadership and communication skills. Although not required, the ideal person usually has at least ten years of experience. ACCOUNTABILITIES o Ability to understand gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly. o Ability to perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment. o Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. o Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts. o Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications. Able to learn company specific applications. o Knowledgeable in the requirements of DOT, OCC, FERC, EPA, ODEQ, OKIE One-Call and other applicable regulatory agencies. o Must be a leader who is bright and technically sound. o Must be, capable of interacting effectively at every level within the business. o Must be a team player as well as a goal-oriented individual who functions with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. o Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Participate in safety meetings for field employees and ensure compliance with safety manual and other industry safety standards. Investigate field safety issues as necessary. - Identify and report safety hazards, observe all safety requirements and actively strive to provide a safe work environment for company employees, customers, contractors and the public. - Review, maintain and modify pipeline drawings, maps, plats, etc. - Make routine checks on all well sites according to schedule. - Monitor production equipment, compressors, wellheads, dehydrators and meters. - Manage daily fluid production; gauge and record oil and water tanks; record all seal records. - Participate in periodic well review meetings with Supervisor's, techs, and asset manager - Analyze production related problems and work with foreman, techs, asset manager, and any other relative personnel to troubleshoot. - Submit daily data and turn in all reports and tickets on a timely basis. - Inspect lease sites, ensure they are clean and maintained; check for spills and fluid leaks. - Communicate regularly with Operations Supervisor and relief. - Ensure company provided vehicle is well maintained and cleaned. - Perform light maintenance on equipment. - Perform all duties in accordance with BHPB's Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines. - Plan and perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities for gas pipelines, dehydration equipment, overpressure protection devices, separation and other related appurtenances. - Assist in developing and implementing procedures and best practices as related to O&M of pipeline assets. - Ensure compliance with DOT, OCC, ODEQ, EPA, FERC, OKIE One-Call and other regulatory agencies where applicable. Responsible for all DOT/OCC compliance issues. - Ensure One-Call database is updated and pipeline locates are handled appropriately. - Ensure contractor and company personnel are in compliance with OQ. - Maintain strict surveillance and enforcement of security, safety and environmental rules and procedures at company facilities. - Coordinate contract personnel. Coordinate new well connect activity. - Audit vendors to meet company specifications; routinely monitor services provided by third party vendors to maintain company standards. - Provide leadership and communicate company safety expectations to customers, contractors and the public. - Develop spreadsheets and databases to track and analyze pipeline efficiencies, pigging schedules, DOT compliance issues, O&M costs, etc. - Develop pipeline hydraulic models to optimize system operation. - Perform assessments of company facilities to ensure compliance with industry and company O&M procedures and practices. - Oversee ongoing Inspection and Maintenance program within a defined geographical region or area. - Prepare project cost options and assist in project cost tracking. - Communicate and coordinate maintenance projects on all pipelines and related facilities with production foremen and with field superintendents. - Assist with special projects, job scope preparation and perform other related duties as assigned. - Promote a positive teamwork environment. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum Requirements: o High school diploma or equivalent o Minimum 10 years of experience - Preferred: o Vocational or equivalent training in general machinery operation or equipment usage, oil and gas production, or relevant field THINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
