PURPOSE

The Land Technican is a para-professional role working with Landmen and Land Administration personnel to achieve the business goals of the organization by providing quality Land services and products. The Land Technician works closely with the Company's Land personnel as well as with the Land/Lease Brokers in the field and contract Title Attorneys. A Technician's work has a broad range duties and responsibilities. The role interfaces with other internal functional counterparts in achieving the Company's business objectives.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

Payment coordination and review of all invoices for contract landmen and professional firms supporting the onshore land function.

Coordination and organization of authorizations for expenditure (AFE's) and tracking of same to ensure appropriate response by land professionals to counterparts.

Processing and coordination of Lease Bonus payments and other contractual obligations.

Supporting professional and contract land staff with needs in respect of trade delivery and contract maintenance.

Coordination of contracts for engagement of brokers for field activities.

Communication with brokers on billings and payment invoicing.

Communication with Landowners (taking inquiry calls) and assisting in resolving questions or problems.

Communication with Title Attorneys regarding Title opinions, curative and status of work.

Coordination and maintenance of the website for knowledge sharing and reference materials.

Assisting with data room logistics, document control, and the acquisition and divestiture process to acquire or divest of assets, as may be needed.

Preparing quality presentation materials and coordination of maps and other land products with drafting.

Undertaking special projects and other activities as needed to enable the Production Unit Land Team to efficiently and effectively deliver quality work products.

Coordination with IM to ensure that the Production Unit Land Team maintains sufficient equipment, in proper working condition, needed to perform the land function.

Processing of oil and gas leases, in accordance with Land Administration guidelines, as well as review and completion of lease purchase reports and contract summaries as may be required.

The successful candidate will be expected to be flexible to business needs across the Land organization .

KEY DELIVERABLES / KEY DIMENSIONS

Portfolio:

Approximately 415,000 net acres of oil and gas leasehold, >2,200 leases

Support a drilling program of 12 to 18 rigs
AUTHORITY AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Has a direct functional reporting relationship with the North America Shale Production Unit Landmen.

Internal cross functional relationships within the North America Shale Production Division, including PU Land Teams, Land Administration, Accounting, IM, Legal, Tax, Finance, Title Attorneys, Land/Lease Brokers, and Contractors.

Specific Authorities are derived from the BHP Billiton Petroleum Approval Framework. The position has obligations to comply with relevant company policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Minimum High School Diploma.

College Degree is a plus.

Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full time basis.

Experience & Qualifications (Expertise/Skills):

Minimum 3 years of relevant Oil & Gas industry experience working with Landmen or Land Administration personnel.

Understanding of and experience in SAP is a plus.

Skilled in using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).

Awareness of core Land oriented Oil & Gas agreements (Oil & Gas Leases, Joint Operating Agreements, Rights-of-Way, Assignments, Unit Agreements, Leasehold Spreadsheets, Contract Exhibits).

Awareness of core Land oriented products or documents including, but not limited to, Title Opinions, Title Curative Documents, Lease Purchase Reports, and Contract Summaries.

Skilled in using Tobin is a plus.

Strong organization skills.

Strong communication skills (oral and written).

Problem solving ability.

"Can do" attitude; Self Starter.

Demonstrate high level of integrity and professionalism.

Languages:

Fluent in English.
