PURPOSE

BHP Billiton Petroleum Rock and Fluid Physics Team is looking for a Petrophysicist with experience in formation evaluation of unconventional reservoirs. A member of a centralized petrophysics team, the candidate will be working closely with the Permian Production Unit in support of the appraisal and development program. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in providing high-impact input to BHPB's strategy in our rapidly growing unconventional portfolio.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Support and participate in HSEC initiatives and ensure compliance with the relevant HSEC procedures
* Develop an integrated petrophysical model for the unconventional reservoirs, incorporating well log, core and production data
* Participate in planning and execution of formation evaluation programs to optimize project team objectives, including core acquisition
* Coordinate post-well log data processing and core analysis, manage petrophysical data
* Perform high quality quick-look formation evaluation in support of well operations
* Build and maintain a close working relationship with the geoscience community in BHPB
* Identify and apply new technologies and methods to reduce uncertainty in the petrophysical evaluation of unconventional reservoirs
* Maintain active contact with professional societies; develop and maintain networks and relationships with key peers across the company and industry for idea-sharing and capability development
* Work effectively as a member of a team

EXPERIENCE

At least 5 years experience working as a Petrophysicist for an operator or a major service company

Recent experience with evaluation of unconventional reservoirs using multi-mineral solvers

Experience with advanced logging technology such as NMR, Spectroscopy and Dielectric, basics of borehole image interpretation

Knowledge of unconventional core analysis methods

Familiarity with Geomechanics concepts and methods

Experience in planning of well-log and core evaluation programs is desirable

Experience with log and cutting analysis in highly deviated wells is a plus

Knowledge of Permian Basin is a plus

Knowledge of Techlog software is a plus

Experience in formation evaluation in horizontal wellbores using logs and cutting is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

BS or higher Degree in Geosciences, Science or Engineering
