BASIC PURPOSE: Member of Seismic Processing and Imaging team. Responsible for technical management and project management of vendor work efforts in seismic processing, imaging, and modeling, with emphasis on depth imaging. Conduct planning, execution, and technical review activities for assigned projects, and contribute advice to other team member's projects. Share knowledge and help team to drive adoption of best practices in the application of seismic imaging technology across BHPB. Manage the relationships with the project teams for the assigned projects. Participate in/advise the development of the in-house seismic imaging, modeling, and analysis toolkit. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Quality of applied seismic processing and imaging technology. This includes: (1) time pre-processing including noise suppression, (2) velocity analysis and velocity model-building, (3) migration, and (4) ensuring fidelity of seismic amplitude and phase - Project management of work efforts to achieve appropriate balance of quality, time, and cost given the business objectives of the project BEHAVIOURAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Integrity Collaboration Interpersonal skills Communication Creativity Judgement Feedback Accountability Action Orientation Influencing skills RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist and advise asset geoscientists with seismic processing and imaging and related applications; Manage project budgets from ~ $10K – 1,000K's, and associated project timelines Identify technology/workflow improvements, and recommend those that should be introduced and disseminated within BHPB. - Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key persons, research bodies, professional associates etc in areas of seismic imaging technology. AUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: - Reports to: Manager, Seismic Processing and Imaging - Manager, Geoscience Operations - Manager, Interpretive Velocity Model Building - Manager, Geophyscial Operations - Manager, Quantitative Interpretation - Manager, Geophysical Technical Assurance - Geoscience Specialists, Geoscience Function - Project Team members, Exploration, Appraisal, Development, Production, & New Ventures - IM Personnel EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Geophysics, Mathematics, or Physics 10 plus years professional experience Significant knowledge and practical experience with theory underlying seismic processing and imaging Project management skills - Understanding of E&P business - Fluent English THINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
