Job number: NASH752128 CSG: Petroleum Business / Project: Exploration Job type: Full Time Regular (USA) Location: US - Texas - Houston MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION To serve as a key focal point for the Division Order team in the North American Shale Production Division providing full scope and oversight of EP Joint Venture and Royalty Owner set up and Division Of Interest (DOI) maintenance. DOI set up and maintenance includes, title analysis, interpretation of related documents and contracts, ownership preparation and changes to record title ownership of minerals, working and royalty interests. Scope is focused on areas (PU) assigned with the understanding that workload balancing may occur requiring assistance in other areas Ensure JV and Revenue ownership is timely and accurately captured also that information is appropriately communicated within the organization. Direct the preparation and issuing of Division/Transfer Order Contracts. Work with revenue accounting to provide direction for the EP monthly royalty check print process and suspense releases. Comply with governmental and Regulatory reporting tasks associated with Division Orders. Capture and communicate D/O information within the organization as needed. Individual contributor role to ensure BHPB's rights are protected, contractual obligations are met, compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements associated with Division Orders. EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Education: Four-year university accredited degree or higher with major in Petroleum/Energy Management, Business related Degree or JD in Law. Continuing industry related education and/or certification Experience & Qualifications (Expertise/Skills): Basic knowledge of US Division Order & Revenue software. (Advanced required for Senior and Staff levels) Knowledgeable in MS Office software, high level in MS Excel Basic to intermediate knowledge of Lease, Contract and Royalty Management software. (Intermediate knowledge required for Senior and Staff levels) State specific and Federal onshore Division Order and Title experience preferred. (Advanced required for Senior and Staff levels) Experience in Division Orders/Lease Administration or Land (5 years minimum for Senior & 8 for Staff) Advanced understanding of Land and mineral titles and conveyances including ability to cure basic and more complex title defects. Advanced knowledge of land document management process and systems. High level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team-based environment. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Project or team leadership experience including management of analyst's and technician's work with accountability to management. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to effectively interface with multi-disciplines on a land related topics. Constructively challenges current practices, is open/respectful to new approaches, and able to develop creative solutions to challenging issues in area of responsibility. Demonstrates an enterprise first mentality. Clear understanding of the NASPD and the specific PU's strategy and internal objectives. Job level will be commensurate with skills and experience AUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Has a direct functional reporting relationship with the Supervisor of Division Orders for the PU. Internal Cross Functional relationships within the North America Shale Production Division (PU Land Teams, Legal, Tax, Revenue Accounting, JV Accounting, Finance, etc.) General work direction of Technician not direct reporting relationship. Direct supervision of future part-time services (i.e. contract Admin services and/or BP students from High School programs) or interns. Higher job levels. Specific Authorities are derived from the BHP Billiton Petroleum Approval Framework. The position has obligations to comply with relevant company policies and procedures. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS May be required to travel away from the local office base for projects and to participate in conference calls to accommodate other time zones (outside normal business day). PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Policies, Processes and Systems Learn and comply with BHPB Division Orders data guidelines and procedures including Quality Assurance. Contribute to review of work processes and develop improvements and efficiency of these processes Serve as key resource to land department, technical teams and management on Division Order and royalty payment related topics. Set up and maintain Division of Interests in the Land System to ensure royalty payments made to private, corporate, and government mineral owners are in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and contracts. Learn and refresh knowledge on applicable laws, statutes and industry standards related to leasing, contracts and mineral ownership in the geographical area assigned. Recognize and develop solutions for non-routine ownership and payment issues, including operated and non-operated ventures. Advanced and subject matter expert for title and payment issues. Assist with testing Land related systems enhancements/upgrades, and deployment training. Assist Supervisor and Manager with training less experienced staff to analyse and interpret basic, intermediate and complex title, conveyances and title documents. Expert knowledge covering onshore leases and contracts used to set up and maintain joint venture, royalty revenue payment ownership within the geographical area assigned. Research and resolve complex Owner Relations/Partner inquiries and issues related to DOI ownership and payments Represent BHPB by participation in various local and industry associations and forums. Leadership or presenter experience preferred (Lead). Stay current with land division order and revenue systems technology and work to improve Land systems and work process. Develop and train (BPDC role) for higher job levels Contribute to evaluation and constant improvement of key work processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Generate business and regulatory reports for compliance to assist land and technical teams in analysis and decision-making. Assist Business Development with due diligence and acquisition evaluation related to Division Order and royalty payment matters. Work with revenue accounting to maintain and reduce suspense and escheat for royalty Special Land Administration projects as assigned Portfolio of Experience to include: Oil & Gas Lease Records, Petroleum Contracts, Acreage THINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
