Goal:

The primary target audience will be large insurance companies in the Eastern seaboard area including their general account and variable annuity assets and assets managed by their wealth/asset management subsidiaries. Candidates need to live in their territory. Expectations will be to effectively manage the territory in order to exceed personal and team sales goals. The BDO serves as the central point of contact in the above-mentioned territory for the iShares Institutional channel. Additionally, the BDO will take the lead role for the insurance channel in developing solutions for the variable annuity segment in the US.

Position:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

In coordination with the existing coverage by the Financial Institutions Group at BlackRock, call on insurance companies to market iShares exchange traded funds and iPath exchange traded notes

Deliver sales presentations, seminars and meetings with clients / prospects

Create a winning iShares-based value proposition for the variable annuity segment

Report weekly activities and accomplishments

Manage budget to maximize time and resources

Manage all conference activity and speaking engagements within the region

Work with Business Development Associate to maximize territory sales coverage

Contribute to the success of the overall team
Person:

Ability to translate business strategy and goals into sales strategy and execution plan

5-10 years of relevant industry experience in financial services required, with strong understanding of the investment industry, financial markets, and complex investment concepts and strategies

Skilled at influencing results through others without necessarily having formal authority as this is an influencing role that requires people to work for role without formal reporting relationships, build solid relationships with cross-functional partners

Proven track record of success in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment

Ability to manage a NNB/AuM goal as success will require delivery of NNB goal to be defined with manager as success criteria

Experience with complex client relationships, assessing needs and taking an innovative approach to developing solutions; prior strategic account experience desired

Capability to influence and drive leadership consensus on plans based on industry and market knowledge, thoughtful connection of plans/steps to goals, experience and credibility with colleagues as well as a strong understanding of the iShares business; a strong negotiator

Proven ability to leverage leaders and teams across disciplines to maximize focus on clients and markets

Drive execution – quickly remove roadblocks, translate strategy into specific goals, tactics, action plans, and deliverables and effectively delegate to drive execution

Senior presence with ability to gain and maintain the trust of business leaders and their teams while building trusted relationships with clients on a wide variety of business issues

Thorough understanding of the general account, variable annuities, and wealth segments

Understanding of ETFs, ETNs, Swaps, Futures and other equity derivative products

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and a strong understanding of the asset management industry and the regulatory environment associated with it

Strong analytical and strategic thinking with dynamic, engaging style and excellent written and oral communication skills - must have ability to synthesize, develop and present clear and concise recommendations across audiences and levels

Self-starter, effective at prioritizing tasks, managing time, expectations, and getting things done; champion an attitude of entrepreneurial decision making

Collaborative, partnership-oriented spirit, ensuring overall business success

Ability to understand client/end-client audience and help drive the delivery of education, thought leadership and strategic content

FINRA Series 7 and 63 registrations required
