The Aladdin Product Group and Technology Services organizations develop and support every facet of BlackRock’s information systems needs. Our global teams perform a wide variety of activities from building our technical infrastructure to growing the features and functionality of our state-of the-art trading and asset management platform, Aladdin. The breath of our responsibilities calls for a diverse range of expertise. Team Overview: The Risk Reporting team is responsible for the core analytics reporting applications, the Green Package”, which is a flexible reporting framework for delivering BlackRock’s analytics and underlying models to our clients. The Green Package is produced for over 100 clients on daily and monthly frequencies and must keep up with the needs of our clients as financial markets and the regulatory environment evolve. The team works closely with client teams to understand their business challenges and then implements scalable reporting solutions. While keeping up with the increasingly complex markets and growing client base, we are also constantly optimizing our use of the compute farm and database resources to increase throughput and reduce costs. The Risk Reporting team is also responsible for the front-end tools that enable over 300 internal users to configure and customize reports for their clients. Given the highly technical nature of configuring the applications, our users rely heavily on simplified configuration tools and change management workflows. The report writing applications are written in C while the front-end configuration tools are written in Java and SQL is a critical component of most projects. Role Responsibility: • Implement new business functionality on the Aladdin system to meet business requirements • Working closely with senior members of the team, end users and client support teams to provide support and better understand user requests • Partner with end-users and client services staff in the rollout of the new business functionality • Provide ongoing support and development maintenance of existing application functionality. • Develop an increasing understanding of technologies and architectures, including enterprise architecture, design and implementation, software design and deployment best practices • Ensuring focus on quality and delivering results • Assist team leads with developing project estimates and plans • Communicate technology decisions, issues and risks to senior team members and clients Experience: • Bachelors or MS degree in Computer Science • 2 years of experience with large scale software development and deployment • 2 years of experience with C • Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design as well as Design Patterns • Experience developing scalable server technology is a plus • Experience developing front-end Java tools is a plus • Experience with mobile applications and Objective C is a plus • Experience in the finance industry or knowledge of financial products is a plus Competencies: • Strong communication skills • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills. • Ability to express ideas or analysis with clarity • Deliver high level of service through responsiveness and accuracy • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with changing priorities • Work with teams in a multi-office, multi-country environment • Ability to manage priorities and workflow with efficiency BlackRock is proud to be an E-Verify & Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer—M/F/D/V.
