BMC Software’s Global Services’ Data Center Practice seeks a high caliber, proven senior architect, with excellent technical acumen to architect BMC''s Cloud and Data Center services portfolio. Only the best of the best will be considered for this high profile position. This is a challenging role that is expected to work with strategic technical customers across all markets. The ideal candidate will possess an analytical mind, excellent communication skills, and superior implementation experience with the desire and determination to grow the delivery of BMC''s cloud, application operations, and proactive operations service offerings. The candidate should be able to position high-value services with humility and virtuosity. These attributes, and an appreciation for rigor and objectivity, will be fundamental to ensuring our clients’ becoming fully engaged and autonomous in order to maximize their return on investment on software solutions and services.

BMC''s Cloud and Data Center practice develops and delivers services associated with our Cloud Lifecycle Management, Automation, Orchestration, Proactive Operations and Application Operations product suites.
BMC''s Project Architects are the technical leads on our most strategic projects in Cloud and Data Center operations
Responsibilities of the Project position includes:
• 80% - Strategic Project Delivery – Act as the technical lead on implementation projects. Mentoring Senior consultants in the field. Provide lifelines, technical guidance and support to these consultants on how best to deploy Data Center solutions. Generate and review project specific strategic design and architecture documents. Will help deliver solution planning workshops and support the services sales process when required. Will have direct lifelines into the BMC COE

• 20% - Blue Print Best Practices, Certifications, Mentoring, and Methodology Support – Contribute to the development of Best practices for Data Center architecture. Contribute to the virtual community where consultants contribute in developing these best practices. Participate and help teach boot camps and mentoring programs. Interact and interlock with the COE to provide input and request for enhancements to upcoming product releases

- Work closely with clients, partners, other consultants and project managers to deliver scalable, re-usable, and well-documented solutions.
- Drive solution adoption and business value realization through the analysis and transformation of clients’ existing data centre operational models – driving our customers to manage their IT as a business.
- Ensure BMC delivery successfully aligns IT with our clients’ business by aligning people, process, technology and metrics.
- Business case development, business value consulting, and value realization-based project progress reporting.
- Present at technical and managerial level (e.g. solution overview, progress updates, business case realization, solution adoption plans, etc.).
- Maintain open lines of communication throughout each project phase, highlighting progress and issues to all stakeholders, both internal and external
- Pro-actively maintain a profound technical and functional knowledge of BMC solutions and offerings.
- Mentor new consultants, partners, and customers to drive profound understanding of solutions, best practices, and consulting methodologies.

Position Requirements

- 8+ years background in IT consulting (preferably with a software or virtualization house)
- Programming and Systems Integration experience mandatory
- Virtualization and Cloud background
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated, enterprising, excellent team player, also able to work autonomously

Expert in one of the following (or similar tools from HP, CA, IBM, or VMWARE):
Automation (Bladelogic for Servers and /or Networks)
Application Management and Release (EUEM, AppSight, BMA, BRPM)
Monitoring (Patrol or Proactive Net)
Event and Service Impact Management (BEM/SIM)
Orchestration (Atrium Orchestrator)
CMDB (Atrium)
Discovery (ADDM)
Cloud (CLM)
Capacity Management (BCO, BPA)

- Strong experience with scripting in Linux/Unix environments
- Strong experience with XML/Xpath/XLST
- Solid SQL Skills and familiarity with DB administration in Oracle and/or SQL Server
- Hands on experience in an IT Operations role (e.g.programmer, system administrator) and established IT operations methodology experience (e.g. ITSM/ITIL)
- System administration skills in both Unix/Linux and Windows along with understanding of general communication protocols such as SSH, Telnet, SNMP, and SOAP
- Has worked for, sold to, or consulted to C-level customers at large Enterprise, xSP / Hosting / Telco organizations.
- Excellent written skills that has published at least 1 technical paper
- Highly motivated, enterprising, excellent team player, also able to work autonomously
- Knowledge of key Data Center concepts such as Disaster Recovery, Compliance, Mobility, Big Data, Elasticity, Monitoring, and Consolidation

• Travel up to 70% within Geography assignment
