Position Description

BMC Software’s Global Services’ Data Centre Practice seeks a high caliber, technically strong consultant with good business acumen to implement a range of complex I.T. solutions including automated server architectures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with clients, partners, other consultants and project managers to deliver scalable, re-usable, and well-documented solutions.
Drive solution adoption and business value realization through the analysis and transformation of clients’ existing data centre operational models – driving our customers to manage their IT as a business.
Ensure BMC delivery successfully aligns IT with our clients’ business by aligning people, process, technology and metrics.
Present at technical and managerial level (e.g. solution overview, progress updates, business case realization, solution adoption plans, etc.).
Maintain open lines of communication throughout each project phase, highlighting progress and issues to all stakeholders, both internal and external
Pro-actively maintain a profound technical and functional knowledge of BMC solutions and offerings.
Mentor new consultants, partners, and customers to drive profound understanding of solutions, best practices, and consulting methodologies.

Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
5+ years background in IT consulting (preferably with a software or virtualization house)
Programming and Systems Integration experience mandatory
Virtualization and Cloud background
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

SOLID HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
Strong experience with virtualization (VMWARE, Hyper-V, Xen) and cloud deployment, Bladelogic and experience a nice to have or similar products from HP, IBM or CA- Solid understanding of programming concepts and development lifecycle
Strong experience with scripting in Linux/Unix environments (AIX, RHEL, Solaris, HP-UX) and windows along with understanding of general communication protocols such as SSH, Telnet, SNMP, and SOAP
Strong experience with server patching (both Windows and Linux/Unix)
Strong experience with server compliance
Hands on experience in an IT Operations role (e.g. programmer, system administrator) and established IT operations methodology experience (e.g. ITSM/ITIL)

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Understanding of project lifecycle.
Established IT Operations methodology experience
Provisioning and configuring network devices
Data Centre operations knowledge
