Req ID 41179BR Job category Engineering Sub-category Integrity/Maint/Reliability Engineering Countries (State/Region) United States - Washington Location Renton Role synopsis An Area Maintenance Engineer (AME) is a highly autonomous member of the project management, engineering and technical support team whose responsibilities include the development and execution of capital and maintenance (expense) projects for pipeline and terminal operations. The AME will directly report to the Project Engineering Team Leader. The AME utilizes all aspects of the Capital Value Process (CVP) as applied to project Front End Loading, execution and operations. Specific duties include preparation of project cost estimates, use of value improving practices, project execution plans, engineering design and procurement packages and overall management of integrated teams for project definition, execution, construction, operation, and closure to achieve safety, operability, schedule and cost / value goals. Depending upon skill sets and competencies, a AME is typically responsible for 10 - 25 annual projects ranging in cost from $25K to $2000K. Upon occasion, larger projects, and special assignments are executed within the team. Projects for this position will primarily be executed in the Olympic Pipeline District (Western Washington and Northern Oregon), but may include some projects in Seattle, Portland, and Richmond Terminals. This position will be based out of Renton, WA. As individual contributors and leaders of their projects, each AME is accountable to the US Pipelines and Logistics for driving their entire portfolio of projects to a safe, successful and timely conclusion. An AME must have the skills to facilitate effective, cooperative and frequent contact both within and outside the Company. Inside contacts (members of project teams) include operations and maintenance field staff, pipeline schedulers, business developers, technical specialists, legal and procurement specialists and all levels of their management. Outside third parties include those such as governmental agencies, private developers, landowners, joint venture pipeline operators, equipment vendors, and engineering and construction contractors as required. Particular expertise in effectively managing integrated teams for multiple projects in various stages for successful execution of projects during the Define and Execute stages is critical. Key accountabilities 1. Demonstrate behaviors which promote a safe work environment in all aspects of the job. 2. Champion the Capital Value Process and coordinate input from project team members for project evaluation and execution. 3. Plan and lead development of contracting, purchasing, and construction. 4. Manage project cost, schedule, safety, and operability, along with any other significant metrics of project success. 5. Interface with NW Fuels Value Chain Business Development to align the project objectives with business objectives. 6. Communicate progress toward achieving project metrics to the Business Unit, project team members, and other key stakeholders. 7. Capture, appropriately communicate, and apply lessons learned and best practices on the project. 8. Work with the project HSSE Coordinators/Contractors to develop and implement an overall permitting strategy. 9. Assist district with development of annual project plans and budgets. Essential Education - Bachelors degree in Engineering Essential experience and job requirements - Valid drivers license - 8 years experience in oil & gas industry - Valid TWIC card by the first day of employment Desirable criteria & qualifications - 5+ years of petroleum pipelines or terminals experience - Deep Knowledge of DOT Regulations and Requirements for Pipelines - 8+ years project management experience - Professional Engineering License Relocation available Yes - Domestic (In country) only Travel required Yes - up to 25% Is this a part time position?
