Role synopsis We are looking for an User Experience professional to lead UX and IA activities on a critical HR global portal initiative at BP. This position will work with the HR Online team that is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting effective HR intranet websites at BP. The primary platform will be SharePoint 2010/2013 with content, data, and transactions integrated from SAP and various cloud based HR solutions. This position offers the opportunity to help develop a world class intelligent portal for a leading global energy enterprise.

Key accountabilities Key Accountabilities:

This role is responsible for planning and delivering User Experience (UX) activities for the global project team. The UX Leader will develop the Usability /UCD practice within the team, working closely with the team’s visual designer, analysts, and content teams. This includes developing the UX program and governance, quality and effectiveness metrics, and usability intelligence for the entire HR intranet estate at BP. UX activities include but are not limited to:
• User Interviews
• User surveys and analysis
• Focus groups (plan, lead, and report)
• Time on task studies
• Observational Usability testing
• Heuristic analysis and testing
• UCD program development and documentation
• Content author training and support on principles of usability
In addition, the UX Leader will pick up, support, and continue Information Architecture activities that are currently underway on the project. A contract IA resource is currently engaged but this role will take over any ongoing IA activity following primary development. IA activities include but are not limited to:
• Inventory and Documentation of existing HR intranet content and sites
• Sitemap documentation (both old and new)
• Sitemap globalization; moving from a fully local to hybrid global/local IA
• Content analysis with content owners and users
• Card sorts and logical categorization analysis
• Content channel organization and planning
• Content migration analysis and planning
• Content localization analysis and planning
Additional responsibilities will include advising and coaching HR Online team and leadership regarding IA and UX trends, methods, and capabilities. This role will also advocate, develop, and deliver a viable HR Online Usability practice that will continue to operate after the assignment ends. This consultant role could potentially evolve into that program leader role, or may simply transition the mature program when appropriate.
Essential Education • Bachelor’s degree in Web Usability, Design, Human Factors or related IT or IS field computer science, business systems, or internet/intranet field or relevant experience in lieu of an accredited degree
Essential experience and job requirements • 3 + years of professional experience in a SharePoint environment, preferably in a corporate or other large organization setting
• 3 + years of combined experience in User Experience, Information Architecture, semantic web design, or closely related fields
• Requires advanced understanding of website development and support technologies including: HTML, XML, java script, etc.
• Experience in web design using creative tools such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Front Page, Visual Studio, Fusion, Flash, and the like
• Proficient in standard business software including Microsoft Project, Visio and PowerPoint

Desirable criteria & qualifications • Experience with portal projects in a User Centered Design environment and have experience with user focus groups, user surveys, usability testing and related UX activities
• Some exposure and experience to SAP HRIS and other HRIS products and solutions
support an inclusive environment where diverse points of view are valued as essential
•utilize and maintain networks throughout BP and with other operators
•Demonstrated success working within diverse, cross-functional teams; highly competent in relationship management and working with a diverse set of stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, ethical business behavior and judgment, strong leadership and teamwork
