Job Description: TheStrategic Silcon Supply Base Engineering Manager utilizes strong management and technical competencies to set objectives, lead and develop the Silicon Supply Base Engineering team. The Silicon Supply Base Engineering Manager thrivesin a leadership role as a key technical resource and trusted advisor to technical operations, engineering and business environments while developing and driving execution of commodity quality assurance plans in line with commodity and technology strategies. The Silicon Supply Base Engineering Manager develops and continuously fosters strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure technology alignment, and drives early engagement with Engineering Management to deliver the best solutions for Brocade. The Strategic Silicon Supply Base Engineering Manager is a trusted advisor in providing support on failure analysis, troubleshooting and production recovery of component failures. Some travel domestic and overseas travel is required.

Job Responsibilities:

Builds and continuously fosters strong influential relationships with supplier’s and Brocades technical communities
*
Removes road blocks between teams (internal and external) to facilitate timely and constructive issue resolution
*
Defines commodity defect level targets and holds team accountable to drive commodity yield improvements to ensure continuous delivery of components at or below commodity specified defect rates
*
Defines and ensures the execution of supplier quality plans and data reporting
*
Defines and holds team accountable to drive thorough supplier technical capability sourcing analysis
*
Develop and drives thorough supplier site qualifications including the completion of site surveys, gap analysis and gap closure plans
*
Drives alignment of Brocade and supplier technical roadmaps
*
Participates in commodity / product teams (including design reviews and DFx; contributing to lower total acquisition costs and manufacturability)
*
Collaborates with Engineering Management on review of test data
*
Supports driving inspection of parts from qualification run and assures that appropriate process controls are in place at the supplier
*
Brocade focal point for ensuring quality and technical feedback to the suppliers
*
Provides leadership and support on failure analysis, troubleshooting, factory production recovery of component failures and field failures
*
Monitors supplier performance - Ensure team drives closed loop corrective action and preventative/proactive solutions.
*
Contributes to the annual commodity cost reduction goal
*
Education / Experience:BSEE / 8-10 years experience with emphasis on strategic silicon supplier quality and sourcing.
