Description
Leads piping engineering design activities for major scale EPC projects in oil refinery, hydrocarbon, and chemical industrial facilities. Responsible for providing piping engineering deliverables for the project in front end, detailed design, and construction phases. Leads a team of piping engineers and interfaces with piping designers in the execution of design, and interfaces with a multi-discipline project team consisting of project manager, controls, estimating, and engineering disciplines. Responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of piping systems and their compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry practice. Supports estimating at each project phase through various means. Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced staff. Coordinates workload with piping engineering manager for developing project budgets and managing resources. Exercises cost and schedule control over piping engineering-related areas of the project. Reviews and monitors designs and specifications produced internally or externally for conformance to control estimates, codes and regulations and project specifications. Supervises, coordinates, provides leadership to and reviews work of assigned staff. Evaluates and recommends changes in methods and procedures. Visits job sites, subcontractor's offices and vendor's shops as needed to solve construction and installation problems, interpret project requirements and approve alternatives and substitutions. Participates in the Quality Improvement Process, including improving communications within the Task Force/Department.
