Leads detailed design electrical engineering activities for a lump sum construction project. May begin engineering in the front end planning stages and take project through completion, including answering questions from the field regarding installation details and commissioning procedures. Execute the electrical engineering within budget by tracking labor hours and material quantities. May assess feasibility and propose alternate methods based on experience. Coordinate workload to assistant electrical engineers or designers and be responsible for all electrical work products. Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced staff members. Develop hazardous area classifications, design 15kV and 5kV distribution systems, design 480V one lines and motor schematics, load flow and short circuit studies, UPS and battery sizing, cable sizing and other electrical calculations. Develop specs to purchase electrical equipment. Experience in construction and field start up is a plus. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. This position will be accountable for schedule andbudget and making trips to job sites to survey existing electrical conditions (travel about 20%). Regularly meet and correspond with clients and vendors. Interact daily with other discipline engineers and project manager.
