Senior Electrical Engineer - Industrial Refineries Job Listing at Burns & McDonnell in Houston, TX

Leads electrical engineering design activities for minor and major scale EPC projects in oil refinery, hydrocarbon, and chemical industrial facilities. Responsible for providing electrical design deliverables for the project(s) in front end, detailed design, and construction phases. Leads a team of electrical engineers in the execution of design and interfaces with a multi-discipline project team consisting of project manager, controls, estimating, and multiple engineering disciplines. Interfaces directly with construction personnel in development of contracts and execution of work. Tracks electrical design efforts against budgets and expected progress. Supports estimating at each project phase through various means including equipment specification and bid processes for material take-offs. Works with the computer based platforms used in developing of detailed design for routing and placing electrical equipment. Works with clients and vendors directly in developing the design, and builds lasting business relationships. Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced staff members. Coordinates workload with electrical department manager for developing project budgets and managing resources.

Electrical design deliverables include developing hazardous area classifications, design 15kV and 5kV distribution systems, design 480V one lines and motor schematics, cable schedules, load flow and short circuit studies, UPS and battery sizing, cable sizing and other electrical calculations. Develop specifications to purchase electrical equipment.
