Description
This position,is responsible for carrying out the tactical Safety and Health direction of Burns & McDonnell and providing professional safety & health support and oversight to the project management team. This position facilitates adherence to safety policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with the local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for planning, and implementing organizational Safety and Health initiatives in order to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work place, in a heavy construction environment. The successful incumbent maintains good working relationships with all levels of personnel and will quickly respond to questions and/or concerns related to safety and health issues. The successful candidate will be a team player and possess good decision making skills while supporting project management and interfacing with regulatory agencies as necessary. The candidate must be capable of interpreting regulatory documents. Activities/Tasks
  • Provide full-time support in the field, on construction projects, to assure operations are planned and conducted in a safe manner.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to personnel involved in our projects regarding safety and health issues and work practices. Identify unique safety & health issues by project, before the project begins, for resolution.
  • Interface with Client Safety & Health Department on site safety & health issues and coordinate preventative measures.
  • Coordinate and mentor project safety & health walk-through assessments. Review any assessment findings with appropriate parties. Follow up by documenting the items which require immediate correction.
  • Periodically distribute information by updating memos relative to safety, including assisting Site Management with correspondence.
  • Conduct training on safety & health subjects.
  • Review and complete, as necessary, Near Miss, Incident and Accident Investigation reports and recommend countermeasures as appropriate.
  • Report to Corporate Safety & Health periodically regarding the Project Safety & Health Program progress, challenges, and objectives.
  • Fully utilize the assistance of external resources.
  • Completedaily report(s)and submit as required to Corporate Safety & Health.
  • Perform such other tasks as are relevant to the position.
