Description In this role, you will expand sales within existing Newsday and Interactive accounts, focus on customer service and develop relationships with key decision makers. In addition, you will understand, plan and execute strategies that respond to organization/customer needs. You will be required to take independent action, seek out new responsibilities, act on opportunities, generate new ideas and practice self-development. You will build new relationships through cold calling. Finally, you will be responsible for developing sales/marketing plans, monitor and respond to the competition and network.
Responsible for providing excellent customer service in his or her own job performance and by training, motivating and evaluating staff to provide highest quality customer service both within Newsday and to readers, advertisers and the community. Assess, create & implement all pricing & packaging strategies for all Interactive Retail products & services.
The interactive Account Executive will drive online advertising sales for various categories for our websites and mobile products. This role will require a candidate that can: Identify new sales prospects, expand existing client revenue programs and secure appointments with key decision makers & uncover their marketing/advertising needs towards Newsday.com products. Work with other interactive sales team on sales calls showing the value of online advertising with newsday.com, amny.com, various niche websites and mobile apps. Generate incremental advertising revenue from Newsday’s current clients through programs on their websites. Mentor and coach the print sales force utilizing your online knowledge and experience. Proactively research all area competition in order to grow our dot.com market share.
Qualifications Ideal candidate should possess one or more of the following requirements: Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, 60 college credits required or military experience or technical/trade school certification. Will posses 2+ years’ sales experience, preferably in newspaper advertising sales selling online or interactive plus 1-2 years of successful online sales experience closing new business/growing existing client advertising accounts; previous work history with a media company. Will have a proven track record of exceeding goals with the ability to produce individual sales results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to educate and coach clients on the benefits of taking their advertising dollars online required. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required. In addition to possessing superior interpersonal and customer service skills, you will have strong PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and salesforce.com. 4 year college degree preferred, preferably with marketing, business and/or communication courses; equivalent experience considered equally. Knowledge on the interactive media/terminology (i.e. CPM, Clickthrough, Cubes, LeaderBoard, Banners, etc).
