About Capital District Community Gardens
For more than 35 years, Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) has worked to reduce the impact poor nutrition has had on public health in the Capital Region by organizing urban community gardens, offering healthy food access, providing nutritional and horticultural education for all ages, and coordinating urban greening programs.

Program Description
The Healthy Convenience Store Initiative (HCSI) works to develop innovative partnerships with local store owners. The Healthy Convenience Store Initiative gives fresh fruits and vegetables a vibrant presence in some of the Capital Regions most underserved neighborhoods. Capital District Community Gardens provides and stocks a compact display unit to corner stores in food deserts. Our service supports store owners as they develop their market for nutritious fresh produce, working with store owners to maintain the produce displays and adequately meet customer demand for fresh fruits and vegetables. Healthy Convenience Store Initiative is working to ensure that all residents of the Capital Region have access to fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables.

Position Description
Assist the HCSI Coordinator in preparing and delivering produce orders to corner store partners throughout the Capital Region
Explore and pursue projects that will enhance the effectiveness of HCSI throughout the city through ideas such as store signage, community surveys, or other community engagements
Gain knowledge of distributing produce to inner city neighborhoods in addition to the challenges and rewards of providing fresh produce is underserved communities
